Mika Sato was born in Hiroshima, Japan, and grew up surrounding by the bounty of nature that both nurtured and inspired her. In her youth, Mika studied the ancient floral art of Ikebaha, and this has profoundly influenced her design aesthetic over the last twenty-five years.
Mika moved to Canada in 1997 and has spent time travelling and learning new styles and techniques in Europe, South East Asia, and North America.
In 2010 she decided to pursue her interest in pottery through classes with recognized Toronto and Japanese potters. Most recently, she has been working independently at a local studio and has been creatively excited by her use of natural materials such as shells, seeds, corals, etc.
